Lighthouse Triumphs at Interschool Public Speaking Competition

On Tuesday, 26 May, Lighthouse hosted the Annual Interschool Public Speaking Competition, bringing together students from École du Nord, Northfields, and Lighthouse.

Three students from Grade 8 and three students from Grade 9 from each school competed in what proved to be an inspiring and memorable evening.

Throughout the event, the audience had the pleasure of listening to outstanding speeches delivered by the 18 participants. Several speakers demonstrated remarkable confidence and eloquence, captivating the audience from the very beginning to the end of their speeches.

At the conclusion of the competition, the two judges from the English Speaking Union announced the winners and runners-up for each category. We were thrilled and immensely proud to discover that Lighthouse had secured all four awards!

The following Lighthouse students distinguished themselves brilliantly during the competition:

Level 1 – Grade 8

  • Winner: Julia Bradley
  • Runner-up: Liah Harmse

Level 2 – Grade 9

  • Winner: Adham Tunda
  • Runner-up: Amber Assonne

We would also like to commend our other Lighthouse participants, Blake Roussel (Grade 9) and Robin Toofanny (Grade 8), who also performed admirably and represented the school with confidence and determination.

For the very first time, Lighthouse has won all four awards at the Annual Interschool Public Speaking Competition. We are incredibly proud of all our participants for their hard work, courage, and excellent representation of the school.
