Secondary School

Welcome from the Head of Secondary

“Welcome to Lighthouse Secondary School! It’s my joy and privilege to be a part of a school that echoes my own educational philosophy. At Lighthouse, one can find joyful learners thanks in no small part to a faculty that values meaningful relationships.

We are a community of love and care; happy and safe students who feel seen, heard, accepted and loved are usually quite motivated learners too! Through experiential learning, we are equipping our students with real-life skills and a “growth mindset” that helps them adapt to an ever-changing world. Far from sacrificing a high academic standard (our Cambridge results speak for themselves), we believe a holistic education framework lets students grow all of their gifts and talents.

Finally, coming from a Christian worldview, we are happy to let students and parents explore their values and purpose in life, knowing these larger questions are among the most important to discuss and define in young adulthood. I invite you to come see Lighthouse in action – our mission and values make this a special place to learn and grow!”

Why?  All Lighthouse Secondary Teachers are qualified teachers who offer individualized instruction.

Focusing on only exam scores doesn’t tell the whole story:
        • Small classes (min 2, 24/section) allow for personal instruction
        • Formative assessment used to adjust lessons, meet individual learning needs
        • Special Education Needs Team now 5 working members
        • Varied assessments (projects, debates) that go beyond Cambridge Papers (also practicals, coursework)
        • Approach to Learning and Learning Mindset matters in our reporting
        • Lighthouse values ACTIVE LEARNING
