Primary School Children playing

We focus on active learning through exploration, collaboration, problem solving, and critical thinking; providing an optimal learning environment for our growing children, encouraging them to reach their full potential.

Lighthouse Primary School offers two classes per grade from Grade 1 up until Grade 6. The experiential, play-based learning that is the hallmark of our Pre-Primary continues throughout our Primary School where children are given daily opportunities to participate in learning activities that include skills such as critical thinking, communication, problem solving and innovation. We want our children to love school, and we strive to inspire them to apply their learning to real-life acts of service to others. We provide the environment and experiences that will challenge and nurture our children, broaden their skills and create understanding, thus preparing them for the future.

In the Lower Primary, Grades 1-3, our main focus is the acquisition of reading, writing, and numeracy skills, forming a solid foundation for all further learning. We are child-centered and provide differentiated, future-focused, skills-based education in our approach to ensure that every child feels confident and able to work at his/her own pace, towards reaching his/her full potential. Each class is managed by a lead teacher and a learning assistant.  In addition, our SEN (Special Educational Needs) Department provides Occupational Therapy, Language and Numeracy Support, and Counseling for those who may need further support.

In the Upper Primary, Grades 4-6, we continue to build on foundational skills laid in the Lower Primary Phase. We become more focused on supporting our children to become independent, self-motivated learners. Our teachers facilitate integrated lessons that lead to the development of Collaboration, Communication, Creative and Critical Thinking, Character-building,  Citizenship, Computational Thinking  and Problem-solving skills.

Our Primary curriculum is based on the British National Curriculum and integrated with the International Primary Curriculum. Emphasis is placed on Literacy and Numeracy. We use the IPC thematic units for Science, Geography, History, Art, Music and Physical Education. We offer English as a first language, and French as an additional language.  Our children are also exposed to various sport and cultural activities throughout the week, in line with our holistic child development philosophy.

Lighthouse Primary and Secondary School is uniquely situated alongside a natural forest which is used as part of our outdoor education programme. Healthy eating is also encouraged at our school through the provision of daily freshly prepared meals. Meal times are something our children look forward to; where they connect with one another, try new foods, acquire positive eating habits and etiquette.

As a school, we remain rooted in our Christian Ethos through the teaching of our Biblical worldview of Education. We believe that teaching Christ-like values and disciplines creates hope for the future within our children.
